chose Dobson’s to undertake the complete refurbishment and rewiring of flat number
4 at Bede House, College Grove Road, Wakefield.
We obtained three quotes from a) a
firm recommended by word of mouth and b) two firms listed in the local Yellow Pages.
Firm
a) would not give us a proper break down of the total estimated cost outlay and the
quote was much higher than the other two. The other two did give a breakdown but
we chose Dobson’s on account of the very detailed response to our specification for
the works.
My wife was also impressed by the length of time Dobson’s had been trading,
(over 35 years) which would have included at least two economic downturns and slumps
in the housing market. We felt therefore that they must be very well experienced
in the building trade.
We met both father and son on site and walked through the flat
to discuss in detail the specification. A start date was agreed and despite still
living 200 miles away we were able, with regular telephone discussions and flying
visits when necessary, to guide the contractor and his team of subcontractors through
the workload.
Ray or Matthew always contacted us before undertaking any ‘work arising’
due to hidden snags or changes that might be required, for whatever reason.
Our visits
were not always prearranged, yet we always found workmen on site and the standard
of workmanship of equally high quality whether in readily visible areas or hidden,
as in roof spaces.
We have now lived in the flat for 18 months totally problem free
and we have no hesitation in recommending Dobson’s for any work large or small. Indeed
I have had them back to install electricity in our garage.”
